Sixteen-year-old high school sophomore Erin Schrode was at a protest rally in downtown San Francisco for Teens for Safe Cosmetics Wednesday. Called "Project Prom" to raise awareness of harmful ingredients in makeup, the teens decided to wear prom dresses with combat boots. The KCBS reporter asked if the young man was crying because he’d been caught, or because he’d been outrun by a high school girl in a prom dress and tiara.

After Schrode stopped the thief, police were able to catch one of the other two men. One man remains at large. The purse was recovered with some of its original contents, but the laptop has not been found.

"I imagine in retrospect it was pretty funny to see," said Schrode, adding that she just reacted quickly without thinking. "I wasn’t going to let them get awa
